Happy Thanksgiving Day!

Happy Thanksgiving Day!
Yes, I know we don't celebrate Thanksgiving DAY until later this week.

However, EVERY day presents us with an opportunity to give thanks. And I have so much to be thankful for.

My life, like everyone else's, is not perfect. Nor will it ever be. Nor would I want it to be. It's only through challenges and trials that we can grow.

So, first of all, I am thankful for personal growth. Which means that, by default, I am also thankful for those situations that create the chance to grow. And, continuing in that vein, I am also thankful for the challenges and trials themselves. I certainly wouldn't have chosen most of them, as they created much tension, anxiety, fear, and a certain amount of helplessness. You know the drill - sleepless nights, worry-filled days, concerns about possible outcomes, and doubts about your ability to handle things in the "right" way.

In the end, the results are usually mixed. Sometimes we are able to immediately rise to the challenge and hit a home run for the win.  But often, we are disappointed, angered, or saddened by how things turn out. Which brings me to my next point of gratitude.

I am thankful that I have choices. This is not about the massive square footage of the breakfast cereal aisle! This is about having choices when it comes to how I respond to the challenges and trials in my life. I can choose to let them defeat me, reminding myself daily of those times I failed. Or I can choose to examine those situations more objectively, to determine how I would try to overcome those obstacles the next time they present themselves. Because they WILL present themselves again. And I WILL have a different response next time.

Lastly, I am thankful for you! I am so glad that you took precious time out of your day to read this post. I am grateful for the opportunity to share my thoughts with you, hope that you will bounce them around in your brain, and then leave me a comment telling me what YOU are thankful for!

You were meant to be here! Happy Thanksgiving Day!
